St. John’s Episcopal Church is a vibrant parish in the heart of Youngstown, Ohio. We have been an important part of the area’s history for more than 150 years, and we continue to be right in the middle of this region’s redevelopment and resurgence. We are known in the Mahoning Valley for the annual Boar’s Head and Yule Log Festival, but there is a lot more going on at this parish.
We reach out to our community through the Red Door Café and food pantry, and many other missions. We learn together through Montessori-based children’s education, Sunday morning adult forum sessions, and collaboration with Youngstown State University. We worship together on Sundays, but also on many other occasions.
We are the daughters and sons of the immigrants who came to work in the steel mills, and we are also folks who have just moved to the Youngstown area. We work in assembly plants and at hospitals; we are YSU students and professors, teachers, medical professionals, software developers, and public servants. We are children and parents and grandparents. We are young and old. We are liberal and conservative. We are long-time parishioners and newcomers.
Above all, we are an excited, passionate, and talented group of people committed to proclaiming the good news of Jesus Christ in our community and in our world.
If you are passing through, we pray God will go with you on your journey. If you are looking for a church home, we would love to share the ministry of St. John’s with you.
