There is an old story which describes Peter at the gates of heaven. The world has ended. The sheep have been separated from the goats; all the faithful have entered heaven and Peter is preparing to close the gates. Then he sees Jesus standing outside. ‘Master’ he says, ‘what are you doing outside?’ Jesus replies, ‘I’m waiting for Judas.’

Imagine how long Jesus is willing to wait for us….

Most compassionate Jesus, your mercy washes over me like soft spring water. I find myself floating weightless as if I hadn’t a single burden or sin to bear. As my soul gently settles within your peace, true peace, I drop to my knees in grateful prayer for I realize that I am completely immersed in your unconditional love and compassion. Forgive me Jesus and allow the redemptive waters of your mercy and love carry me home to you where I know that you will be waiting for me. Wait for me dearest Jesus. Amen.
