Lenten Reflection
I pray for health, especially for those recovering from COVID, RSV, the flu and other respiratory illnesses.
I pray for the faculty and staff at Youngstown State University through this period academic reorganization.
I pray for St. John’s Episcopal church during this time of transition between rectors.
I pray for all people caught up in violent conflicts, that all combatants will put down their weapons and find a way to work together in peace and love.
A collect from the book of common prayer.
Almighty and most merciful God, kindle within us the fire of love, that by its cleansing flame we may be purged of all our sins and made worthy to worship you in spirit and in truth; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
Episcopal Church. The Book of Common Prayer. Charles Mortimer Guilbert (ed), Kingsport Press, Kingsport, TN, 1977.
I end my Lenten reflection with the DEIA Justice statement on our website:
St. John’s Episcopal Church takes seriously Jesus’ command to love our neighbors as ourselves. To that end, all are welcome to participate in the worship and ministry of this community. We pray for the faithfulness to learn and grow in respecting all people as our sisters and brothers in Christ.
