Cross Generations / Cross Schools Book Club

Mission:

The mission of this book club is to foster conversation between and across generations so that we can all understand our world better. Book selections will be geared toward social justice issues and will include Young Adult / Middle Grades titles. The discussions may include diversity, equity, and inclusion as well as examine cultural issues and fairness.

Your hosts will be Jenn Martin, Columbiana Middle School Teacher and Eva Sullivan, retired Poland Middle School Teacher

Contact St. John’s to be a part of the book club and get a free book paid for by a community grant.

Currently Reading:

This session, readers will discuss the book Just Like Jackie by Lindsey Stoddard.

Just Like Jackie is the story of an 11 year old girl named Robinson who lives with her grandfather. Robbie struggles to stay out of trouble in school and manage her feelings of her grandfather’s Alzheimer’s.  It’s up to Robbie to learn how to deal with her anger and to keep her family together—no matter what.

Readers will speak with the Lindsay Stoddard via Zoom at the discussion meeting on May 24th at 4pm in St. John’s Great Hall.
